Kia has introduced a more upscale version of its electric people mover lineup with the debut of the PV5 Prime at the 2026 Busan Mobility Show in South Korea.
The new model builds on the standard PV5 Passenger but shifts its focus toward rear seat comfort, executive transport, and premium shuttle services. With upgraded seating, added convenience features, and a more refined cabin layout, the vehicle targets buyers looking for a luxury electric van experience.
Rear cabin becomes the main attraction
The biggest difference inside the PV5 Prime is the redesigned second row area. Kia replaced the regular bench seat with two individual captain seats mounted on sliding rails.
Passengers can:
- Recline the seats deeply
- Extend powered leg rests
- Adjust seating positions for added comfort
- Use folding armrests for support
The flat floor layout also creates a more open cabin feel and improves movement inside the vehicle.
According to early impressions from the showcase event, the second row experience feels closer to a business class travel setup than a traditional van interior.

Premium touches improve passenger experience
Kia added several comfort oriented features aimed at executive transportation and long distance travel.
Rear passengers receive:
- Ventilated seating
- USB charging ports
- Dedicated rear air vents
- Cup holders beside the seats
- A built in power outlet for devices
The cabin also features a unique dual tone interior finish that separates the Prime version from the standard PV5 Passenger model.
These additions make the vehicle suitable for:
- Hotel transportation services
- Corporate shuttles
- Airport transfers
- Private family travel
Exterior changes remain subtle
From the outside, the PV5 Prime keeps the same overall design language as the regular PV5 Passenger.
However, Kia introduced several exclusive styling elements including:
- New alloy wheel designs
- Prime badging
- Matte gray and pearl white paint options
- Dark exterior trim accents
The updates give the electric van a cleaner and more premium appearance without changing its overall shape dramatically.

Battery and performance details
Kia has not announced separate technical specifications for the Prime version yet. The vehicle continues using the same platform as the standard PV5 Passenger.
The existing lineup currently offers:
- A smaller 51.5 kWh battery option
- A larger 71.2 kWh battery option
The larger setup can deliver up to 256 miles of estimated range under WLTP testing standards.
Fast charging capability allows the battery to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in around 30 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

Launch plans still unclear
Kia has not confirmed official pricing or market availability for the PV5 Prime. South Korea is expected to receive the vehicle first, while international rollout plans remain under review.
The company also has not announced whether the premium passenger focused version will arrive in markets outside Asia.
As automakers continue expanding electric mobility options, vehicles like the PV5 Prime highlight the growing demand for comfortable and technology focused electric transport solutions beyond traditional SUVs and sedans.
