Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has officially launched Phase II of the Green Tractor Program, aimed at empowering farmers and boosting agricultural productivity across the province. The scheme, which follows the successful implementation of Phase I, is set to provide 19,500 tractors under two categories.

  • Medium Power Tractor Scheme – 10,000 tractors
  • High Power Tractor Scheme – 9,500 tractors

This ambitious program underscores the Punjab government’s commitment to supporting farmers with modern machinery, ensuring greater efficiency, and reducing manual labor in the agricultural sector.

Objectives of the Green Tractor Program Phase II

The Green Tractor Program Phase II is designed to:

  • Provide affordable tractors to small and medium farmers
  • Enhance mechanized farming for higher crop yields
  • Reduce dependency on outdated farming methods
  • Support Punjab’s long-term food security strategy

By offering both medium and high-power tractors, the government aims to cater to the needs of diverse farming communities, from small-scale cultivators to large-scale agricultural producers.

Agriculture Development Under Maryam Nawaz’s Leadership

Punjab’s agriculture contributes significantly to Pakistan’s overall GDP, and modernizing farming practices is essential for national growth. CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Green Tractor Program reflects a strong focus on farmer welfare and sustainable development.

This initiative is also expected to create ripple effects in the local economy by:

  • Increasing demand for agricultural machinery
  • Creating jobs in the tractor supply and service chain
  • Improving productivity in major crops such as wheat, rice, and sugarcane

What Farmers Can Expect?

Eligible farmers under Phase II will benefit from:

  • Access to medium and high-power tractors at subsidized rates
  • Transparent and merit-based distribution
  • A fair allocation process ensuring maximum reach across Punjab

This scheme aims to uplift farmers financially, while also aligning Punjab’s agriculture sector with modern farming standards.
