Yango Ride, the global ride-hailing service under the Yango Group, has made history by launching Karachi’s first electric vehicle (EV) fleet. In partnership with Captains Fleet and Volt (Regal Automobiles), this groundbreaking initiative introduces a clean, green alternative to traditional transport, marking a significant step towards sustainable urban mobility in Pakistan.

Eco-Friendly Ride-Hailing Comes to Karachi

The EV fleet, powered by Volt’s state-of-the-art electric vehicles, offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for Karachi commuters. These electric cars produce zero emissions, helping reduce air pollution and the city’s carbon footprint while delivering a high-quality ride experience.

“This is a major step in our efforts to offer Karachi a more sustainable ride-hailing service, while also tackling the ever-growing environmental challenges faced by the people of the city,” said Miral Sharif, Country Head of Yango Pakistan. “We’re committed to transforming transportation in Pakistan—starting with Karachi.”

Supporting Pakistan’s National EV Policy Goals

The launch aligns with Pakistan’s National Electric Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2020–2025, which encourages electric mobility through financial incentives, including:

  • Reduced taxes on EV imports and sales
  • Green financing programs
  • A 45% cut in EV charging tariffs (January 2025)
  • Licensing of 57 EV manufacturers to boost market growth

In November 2024, the government extended its goals under the NEV Policy 2025–2030, targeting 30% EV sales by 2030. Yango’s initiative directly supports this vision and contributes to Pakistan’s broader climate change commitments.

Expanding Clean Transportation Across Pakistan

Yango Ride isn’t stopping in Karachi. The company plans to expand its electric ride-hailing services to Lahore and Islamabad, scaling up to hundreds of vehicles across multiple cities. This national expansion aims to make eco-friendly transportation more accessible to people throughout Pakistan.

Why This Matters: A Greener Future for Urban Travel

The introduction of Karachi’s first EV ride-hailing fleet sets a powerful example for the rest of the country. By combining innovation with environmental responsibility, Yango Ride is leading the charge toward smarter, cleaner, and more sustainable urban transportation in Pakistan.
