In a significant step toward addressing urban pollution, the Punjab government has launched nine new vehicle emission testing points across Lahore. This initiative, led by the Environment Protection & Climate Change Department of Punjab, aims to monitor and control vehicular emissions, ensuring that vehicles on the road comply with environmental standards.
The decision to establish these testing stations comes at a time when air quality in Lahore continues to raise health concerns, especially during the intense summer months. To accommodate the public amid the scorching heat, the government has also introduced flexible testing hours, allowing citizens to visit the stations at their convenience without disrupting their daily schedules.
Each location is operational in two time slots:
Morning: 7:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Evening: 5:00 PM – 10:30 PM
(Bahria Town has evening hours only: 4:00 PM – 9:30 PM)
List of Testing Points:
These emission booths are equipped to conduct quick and reliable emission tests for all types of vehicles. The tests assess pollutants such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, and nitrogen oxides, which are major contributors to smog and respiratory diseases in urban areas.
With rising vehicle numbers in Lahore, unregulated emissions are a leading cause of poor air quality and environmental degradation. Regular testing and compliance not only help reduce harmful emissions but also prolong engine life and improve fuel efficiency. Most importantly, this initiative empowers citizens to actively participate in creating a healthier and greener Lahore.
The Punjab government is urging all vehicle owners in Lahore to visit their nearest emission testing point and ensure their vehicles meet the required standards. No appointment is needed, and testing is both affordable and quick.
By making use of these facilities, residents can help Lahore transition to a cleaner, more sustainable urban environment—where public health and environmental protection go hand in hand.
We are all educated who are reading this article. I am sorry to say either you are non tech or paid. Who says emission control is not good but let’s go one by one.( 1. )Are 2 wheelers being tested. (2. )3 wheelers being tested. (3) what is the status of buses (4) . Last but not the least what about re rolling mills within Lahore and on a 10 kms radius crow flight. These mills contribute 52% of pollution as compared to 1.9% by cars. Have a heart, do write but state the facts
Appreciate that. Precisely commented and high light the actual cause. Thumbs up 👍
Please tell what’s final date of free testing and what will be the fee after dead line?
