A Tesla Model 3 with extremely high mileage is drawing attention for how its battery has performed over time. Despite covering around 380000 miles, the electric sedan continues to operate on its original battery, though with a noticeable drop in driving range.

The 2019 Model 3 Standard Range Plus originally offered about 240 miles of range on a full charge. After years of use and extensive driving, the same vehicle now shows a range of approximately 158 miles when fully charged. This represents a reduction of more than 30 percent in battery capacity.

Real world performance after long term use

Such results highlight how electric vehicles can continue to function even after substantial battery wear. For drivers with shorter daily commutes, the remaining range may still meet practical needs.

Battery degradation is a known factor in electric vehicle ownership. Over time, repeated charging cycles and usage patterns contribute to a gradual loss of capacity. However, the rate of decline can vary based on driving habits, charging behavior, and environmental conditions.

This case provides useful insight for those considering used electric vehicles. High mileage models may offer lower range compared to when they were new, but they can still serve as reliable transportation if expectations are adjusted.

The example also shows that battery health plays a key role in determining long term usability. While a drop to around two thirds of original capacity is significant, it does not automatically make the vehicle unusable.
