Saudi Arabia is taking a firm stand against dangerous driving practices to improve road safety and reduce accident-related fatalities. Among the most severe offenses is using a mobile phone while driving, which can lead to a fine of up to SR900. The Saudi Traffic Directorate has warned that this reckless behavior puts not only the driver but also other road users at serious risk, with the potential for fatal accidents.

Why Using Mobile Phones While Driving Is Dangerous?

Driving requires full attention, and distractions like using a mobile phone significantly reduce reaction time. Studies show that distracted driving is one of the leading causes of road accidents globally. Recognizing this, Saudi authorities have enforced hefty fines to deter drivers from using their phones behind the wheel.

Fines for Damaged or Unclear Number Plates

In addition to mobile phone usage, driving with a damaged or unclear number plate is another violation that can result in penalties ranging between SR1,000 and SR2,000. Clear and undamaged number plates are essential for identification and law enforcement purposes, and failing to maintain them is considered a serious offense.

Efforts to Reduce Road Accidents

Saudi Arabia has been implementing stricter traffic rules and penalties to combat the high number of road accidents. The Kingdom faces significant economic and social losses due to traffic accidents, including fatalities, injuries, and damages to infrastructure. These measures aim to create a culture of responsible driving and improve overall road safety.

A Culture of Responsible Driving

By enforcing stringent fines for traffic violations, Saudi Arabia is promoting a safer driving environment. Drivers are urged to follow the rules, avoid distractions, and ensure their vehicles comply with all regulations.

Adhering to these laws is not only about avoiding penalties but also about saving lives and contributing to a safer community.
