In a bid to enhance road safety and address rising incidents of reckless driving, Sharjah has implemented new fees for releasing impounded vehicles. The revised charges target serious traffic violations, aiming to discourage negligent behavior on the roads.

Key violations, such as reckless driving and riding motorcycles in restricted areas, will now attract significantly higher release fees. For instance, violators involved in motorcycle infractions will face a release fee of Dh20,000. Meanwhile, individuals caught driving without a valid license will be required to pay a hefty Dh30,000 to retrieve their impounded vehicles.

These updated fees will take effect once the legal impoundment period concludes. The new structure is designed to expedite the return of vehicles while maintaining strict adherence to traffic laws. Authorities believe these measures will not only serve as a deterrent but also encourage responsible driving practices across the emirate.

By addressing such critical road safety issues, Sharjah underscores its commitment to reducing traffic accidents and fostering a safer environment for all road users.

The authorities have emphasized that these measures are not merely punitive but are part of a broader strategy to enhance public safety and instill a culture of responsible driving. Sharjah has seen an alarming increase in traffic violations that endanger lives, prompting the need for stricter regulations. The revised fees are expected to act as a strong deterrent, especially for repeat offenders who disregard traffic laws. Additionally, the move aligns with the emirate’s ongoing efforts to modernize traffic management systems and ensure compliance with road safety standards, ultimately reducing the risk of accidents and protecting residents and visitors alike.
