Female Students in Lahore Can Get Free Two-Day Scooty Training

Female students in Lahore can now learn to ride a scooty without paying training fees, as Lahore Traffic Police introduces a two-day practical course designed to improve riding skills and road safety.

The initiative gives students an opportunity to develop the confidence needed to travel on two wheels, particularly as electric bikes become a more accessible transport option for young people in Punjab.

According to Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, the programme is available through designated traffic police driving schools across Lahore. Trained instructors guide participants through practical riding exercises and explain the traffic regulations they need to follow on public roads.

Four Locations Offer Scooty Training

Students can access the free course at traffic police training facilities in four areas of Lahore:

  • Liberty Market
  • Greater Iqbal Park
  • LOS, Ferozepur Road
  • Manawan

The two-day programme focuses on developing basic riding ability rather than relying solely on theoretical lessons. Participants receive practical guidance on controlling a scooty, understanding road safety and following traffic rules.

Schools and colleges can also approach Lahore Traffic Police to organise dedicated training sessions for their students. This arrangement could make it easier for educational institutions to introduce the programme to groups of female learners.

A separate free driving course for women is also operating at the Ferozepur Road centre, adding to the department’s existing training opportunities.

Training Complements Punjab’s Student E-Bike Initiative

The announcement comes as Punjab continues to expand transport support for students through its electric-bike programme.

The provincial government’s student e-bike initiative has approved more than 125,000 electric bikes, with subsidised financing and provisions for female applicants. While access to an affordable vehicle can help students manage daily travel, riding experience and an understanding of traffic rules remain important parts of road safety.

Punjab has also introduced a same-day motorcycle licensing facility for eligible students under the wider initiative. Together, these measures address several stages of two-wheel mobility, from obtaining a vehicle to learning how to operate it and meeting licensing requirements.

The free scooty course provides another route for female students to build practical skills before riding independently. However, students should confirm course availability, registration requirements and any applicable eligibility conditions directly with Lahore Traffic Police before visiting a training centre.

More Opportunities for Women to Learn Driving

Lahore Traffic Police has been extending its women-focused training programmes beyond conventional car driving. Its initiatives have included motorcycle lessons and training opportunities for women interested in driving rickshaws.

A previous rickshaw-driving programme at Bahria Town and Manawan reportedly saw 34 women complete training sessions. The department has also reported issuing more than 200,000 motorcycle licences during the year.

The latest scooty programme adds to these efforts by focusing specifically on female students and providing a short, practical learning option.

For students considering an electric bike or scooty for their daily commute, learning essential riding techniques can be an important step towards safer travel. The new course aims to make that training accessible without adding the cost of paid lessons, while supporting wider efforts to improve women’s mobility across Lahore.
