Al-Ghazi Tractors Limited, in collaboration with the Agriculture Department of the Government of Sindh, proudly announced the successful completion of the transformative “Khud Mukhtar Baa Waqar” workshop. The event took place from August 20th to 21st, with a closing ceremony on August 22nd, 2024, at the Directorate of Agriculture Research in Tando Jam.

This impactful two-day workshop brought together 43 ambitious young women, equipping them with essential skills to thrive in the agricultural sector. Through hands-on learning and practical sessions, participants gained valuable knowledge on modern agricultural tools, particularly Al-Ghazi’s range of tractors and implements, setting the stage for economic independence and sustainable farming practices in Pakistan.

The closing ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar, Minister for Agriculture, Sports & Youth Affairs, Secretary Agriculture Sindh Mr. Rafique A. Burero, Director General of the Agriculture Engineering Department Shuhab Uddin Abro, and AGTL officials.

The workshop began with an introduction to Al-Ghazi’s tractor product range, emphasizing the financial benefits of tractor ownership and the business opportunities it creates. On the second day, participants engaged in practical training, learning to operate and maintain tractors. They even obtained tractor driving licenses and participated in hands-on driving practice, gaining the confidence and skills needed to make a significant impact in their farming communities.

Amna Baloch, a participant from a farming background, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I have never received training like this before and never thought I could drive a tractor. Now, I feel excited and confident to contribute to my family’s farming business.”

Maham Nabeel, Head of Legal at AGTL, highlighted the importance of women’s inclusion in agriculture, stating, “Empowerment and inclusivity are more than just buzzwords—they are essential drivers of innovation and progress. In agriculture, where women are the backbone yet often overlooked, our mission is to ensure that their potential is fully realized. At Al-Ghazi Tractors, we are committed to fostering a culture where every woman can thrive, contribute, and lead in building a prosperous future for Pakistan.”

The Minister of Agriculture, Anti-Corruption, Sports, and Youth Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar, also addressed the attendees, underscoring the significance of such initiatives. He remarked, “Women are the backbone of rural development, and it is crucial that we support these initiatives. We aim to work on policies to subsidize tractors for women, empowering them to use these machines on their own farms or rent them out to others. The progress we seek can be achieved through a strong partnership between the private sector and the government.”

Certificates were awarded to participants, marking the successful completion of the workshop and celebrating their achievements. The event concluded with a collective commitment to continue supporting women’s empowerment in agriculture.

The “Khud Mukhtar Baa Waqar” workshop reflects Al-Ghazi Tractors’ ongoing dedication to driving sustainable development by empowering women in agriculture. As the agricultural landscape evolves, Al-Ghazi remains steadfast in its mission to equip women with the tools and knowledge they need to be at the forefront of this vital industry.
