By Nissan has introduced the new Pixo, a compact electric city car designed for urban driving. While it carries Nissan’s styling and branding, the Pixo shares much of its hardware with the Renault Twingo E-Tech and the related Dacia Spring.
The new EV combines a small footprint with an LFP battery, a front-mounted electric motor and standard DC fast charging. Nissan has not yet announced the Pixo’s price, which will play an important role in how it compares with its Renault and Dacia siblings.
Nissan Pixo Shares Technology With Renault
The Nissan Pixo uses the same basic architecture as the Renault Twingo E-Tech. However, Nissan has given the car its own exterior identity.
The biggest visual changes appear at the front. The Pixo features a chunkier and more angular nose that separates it from the Twingo. From the side, the connection becomes more obvious because the two cars share an almost identical greenhouse.
The rear also remains largely familiar, although Nissan has fitted redesigned taillights with a more angular lighting signature.
The Dacia Spring uses the same underlying architecture and engineering. However, Dacia gave its version more extensive exterior changes, creating a more distinctive and rugged appearance.
27.5 kWh LFP Battery and 259 km Range
The Pixo uses a 27.5 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery. A front-mounted electric motor produces 80 horsepower and 175 Nm of torque.
Nissan quotes a WLTP range of 259 km. That figure is slightly lower than the Renault Twingo’s 263 km rating but higher than the Dacia Spring’s 250 km range.
The Pixo can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.9 seconds and has a top speed of 130 km/h.
Nissan has designed the Pixo primarily for urban use. Its compact dimensions and approximately 9.9-metre turning circle should make it easier to manoeuvre through tight city streets.
Standard 50 kW DC Fast Charging
Charging is one area where the Nissan Pixo stands out. Nissan includes 50 kW DC fast charging as standard, along with an 11 kW AC charger.
With suitable charging equipment, the Pixo can charge from 15% to 80% in around 28 minutes. Nissan also quotes approximately 30 minutes for a 10% to 80% charge.
The Renault Twingo and Dacia Spring offer similar charging capabilities, although faster charging equipment can depend on the market and selected options.
Compact Dimensions and Flexible Interior
The Nissan Pixo has five doors and four seats. It uses the same 2,492 mm wheelbase as the Renault Twingo and Dacia Spring. The Pixo measures 3,796 mm in length, making it slightly longer than the Twingo but shorter than the Spring.
It also retains the Twingo’s independently sliding rear seats. This allows owners to prioritise either rear passenger legroom or additional luggage space depending on their needs.
The compact dimensions and flexible seating arrangement make the Pixo particularly suited to urban environments.
Nissan Pixo Price Still Unknown
Nissan has not announced the Pixo’s price yet. However, the Renault Twingo and Dacia Spring provide useful benchmarks.
In Italy, the new Dacia Spring starts at €17,900, while the Renault Twingo starts at €19,500. Both prices are before incentives and exclude optional charging equipment.

The Nissan Pixo will therefore enter a competitive segment where pricing could play a major role in its appeal.
Built Alongside Its Renault and Dacia Relatives
Nissan will manufacture the Pixo alongside the Renault Twingo and Dacia Spring at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia.
Sharing engineering and production resources allows Nissan to introduce another EV without developing an entirely new platform from the ground up. It also helps reduce development costs and shorten the time needed to bring the vehicle to market.
The result is a compact Nissan EV with familiar Renault technology, its own exterior styling and a focus on affordable urban electric mobility.
Once Nissan announces the Pixo’s price, buyers will have a clearer idea of how it compares with the Twingo E-Tech and Dacia Spring. For now, its 259 km WLTP range and standard 50 kW DC fast charging make it an interesting addition to Europe’s growing electric city car segment.
