By Suzuki has introduced the Pakistan-made Suzuki Alto and Every in Brunei, marking a significant development for Pakistan’s automotive manufacturing industry. The two compact models are being manufactured by Pak Suzuki Motor Company in Pakistan and exported to Brunei, where they will be sold through Suzuki’s local distributor, Boustead Sdn. Bhd.
The launch took place on August 27 at the Airport Mall Atrium in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei’s capital. The event also celebrated the 50th anniversary of Boustead’s appointment as a Suzuki distributor in the country.
First Overseas Export of Japan-Spec Mini Vehicles
According to Suzuki, the Brunei launch represents the first time the Japanese automaker has exported mini-vehicle models from an overseas production base with the same body size and engine displacement specifications associated with its kei cars in Japan.
The Alto and Every are both designed around compact dimensions, making them suitable for markets where maneuverability, ease of driving and efficient use of road space are important.
For Pakistan, the development is particularly notable because the vehicles will be produced locally before being exported to an international market. It demonstrates Pak Suzuki’s role not only as a manufacturer for the domestic market but also as a production base supporting Suzuki’s regional operations.
Pak Suzuki to Supply Brunei
Pak Suzuki Motor Company will manufacture the Alto and Every in Pakistan before shipping them to Brunei. Boustead will handle their sales in the country as part of its expanded Suzuki passenger vehicle lineup.
Brunei has a relatively high vehicle ownership rate, and private cars play an important role in everyday transportation. Residents commonly rely on personal vehicles for commuting, school runs and other daily journeys.
The compact size of the Alto and Every could therefore give Suzuki additional options for customers looking for practical and easy-to-drive vehicles.
Suzuki Motorcycle Expansion in Brunei
The Brunei announcement also includes plans for Suzuki to expand its motorcycle business in the country. Boustead said it intends to begin selling Suzuki motorcycles around autumn 2026.
The planned motorcycle lineup will focus on larger models aimed primarily at touring and recreational riders. Models expected to be introduced include the Hayabusa, GSX-S1000GX and GSX-8R.
This would give Suzuki a broader presence in Brunei’s two-wheeler market while complementing its existing passenger vehicle operations.
Suzuki’s Existing Brunei Lineup
Boustead already imports and sells several Suzuki vehicles in Brunei. Its current passenger vehicle range focuses largely on compact and easy-to-drive models, particularly SUVs.
The existing lineup includes the Jimny 3-Door, Jimny 5-Door, Ertiga and Fronx. The addition of the Alto and Every will give customers more choices at the smaller end of the passenger vehicle segment.
Why the Export Matters for Pakistan
The export of the Alto and Every to Brunei is important because it highlights Pakistan’s growing role within Suzuki’s international manufacturing network.
While Pakistan has historically been a major market for Suzuki’s small cars, exporting locally manufactured vehicles to another country represents a different opportunity. It could potentially support production volumes, strengthen Pakistan’s automotive supply chain and demonstrate the capability of local manufacturing facilities to meet overseas requirements.
The Brunei launch also gives Pak Suzuki an opportunity to gain experience in exporting compact vehicles to international markets. Whether Suzuki expands exports of these models to additional countries will depend on factors such as market demand, production capacity and regulatory requirements.
Around 120 people attended the launch and anniversary event, including Japanese and Bruneian officials, Suzuki executives, distributors and business partners.
For Pakistan’s automotive sector, the arrival of Pakistan-made Suzuki Alto and Every models in Brunei is a noteworthy milestone and could signal further opportunities for locally manufactured vehicles in regional export markets.
