By Ford has confirmed that the Mustang Mach E will not move to the company’s upcoming Universal EV platform, creating fresh questions about the future of one of its most recognized electric vehicles.
The announcement signals a major shift in Ford’s electric vehicle strategy as the company restructures its long term EV plans around a new low cost architecture designed to improve efficiency and reduce production complexity.
The Mustang Mach E helped Ford become a serious competitor in the growing EV market when it launched several years ago. The electric crossover gained attention for combining SUV practicality with Mustang inspired styling and strong performance figures.
However, changing market conditions and slowing sales appear to be pushing Ford toward a different direction.
Ford Focuses On New EV Platform Strategy
Ford recently confirmed that its new Universal EV platform will not support future versions of the Mustang Mach E. According to the company, the new architecture was designed from the ground up to maximize efficiency and simplify manufacturing processes for future electric vehicles.
