According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, riders without helmets will no longer be allowed to enter several major roads, including Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, and Main Boulevard Gulberg. Special traffic police teams have been deployed at key locations throughout the city to ensure compliance and take action against violators.
The decision follows alarming road safety statistics recorded in Lahore this year. Traffic authorities revealed that 139 fatal road accidents have been reported so far in 2026, resulting in the deaths of 96 motorcyclists. Officials noted that a significant number of these fatalities involved riders who were not wearing protective helmets at the time of the accident.
