Sazgar preparing sporty hybrid SUV for Pakistan launch

A new performance focused hybrid SUV may soon join Pakistan’s growing crossover market. Sazgar has confirmed plans to introduce the Haval H6GT PHEV locally later this year, adding a more aggressive and sport oriented option to its lineup.

The update comes after a Haval H6GT was recently spotted on local roads, creating speculation among car enthusiasts and buyers. While the company clarified that the spotted vehicle was a privately imported unit and not an official test vehicle, it also confirmed that the plug in hybrid version is already part of its future plans for Pakistan.

A different approach from the standard H6

The upcoming SUV is based on the regular Haval H6 platform but follows a more dynamic design direction. Instead of the traditional upright crossover shape, the vehicle adopts a coupe inspired profile with a sloping rear roofline and a sportier appearance.

The design focuses more on style and performance appeal while still keeping the practicality of a midsize SUV.

Expected exterior highlights include:

  • larger alloy wheels
  • sharper rear styling
  • sport inspired bumpers
  • more aerodynamic body design
  • premium crossover proportions

This positioning could help the SUV appeal to younger buyers looking for a more distinctive alternative in the hybrid segment.

Plug in hybrid powertrain expected

Sazgar plans to bring the plug in hybrid version rather than the standard petrol model available in some international markets.

Internationally, the hybrid variant combines a turbocharged petrol engine with electric motors and an all wheel drive system. The setup delivers strong performance figures compared to most SUVs currently available in Pakistan.

Key expected international specifications include:

  • 430 horsepower
  • 642 Nm torque
  • dual hybrid transmission system
  • 35.4 kWh battery pack
  • electric only driving capability
  • acceleration under five seconds

The SUV also offers a claimed electric driving range suitable for daily urban commuting without relying fully on petrol power.

Market timing could work in its favor

The launch comes as Pakistani buyers continue shifting toward SUVs, hybrids, and fuel efficient vehicles. Rising fuel prices have increased interest in electrified models that can reduce running costs while still offering premium features and performance.

The H6GT PHEV could sit at the top of Haval’s local range as a flagship offering with a stronger focus on design and driving performance.

Pricing remains undecided

Sazgar has not revealed official pricing yet. The company says final pricing will depend on the upcoming national budget and related tax policies.

That decision may play a major role in determining how competitive the SUV becomes in Pakistan’s premium crossover segment.

If priced close to existing hybrid SUVs in the market, the H6GT PHEV could attract buyers looking for:

  • stronger performance
  • coupe inspired styling
  • hybrid efficiency
  • premium features
  • modern SUV technology

More official details, including launch timing and local specifications, are expected later this year.
