MG4 EV Urban launched in Pakistan at Rs 6.94 million

MG has officially expanded its electric vehicle lineup in Pakistan with the launch of the MG4 EV Urban, a compact hatchback designed around daily usability rather than oversized luxury. While many EVs focus heavily on performance or futuristic styling, this new model takes a more balanced approach by combining range, technology, comfort, and practicality in a city friendly package.

The company has introduced the MG4 EV Urban at a price of Rs. 6,949,000, placing it among the more accessible electric vehicles currently available from a mainstream automotive brand.

Built for everyday driving

The MG4 EV Urban targets drivers who spend most of their time navigating busy city roads. Its compact dimensions should make parking and maneuvering easier in crowded urban areas, while the longer wheelbase helps maximize interior room.

MG appears to have focused heavily on practicality. The hatchback offers seating space designed for adults in the rear, along with heated front seats and a driver seat with multiple adjustment options.

Storage is another major part of the package. The car provides:

  • 382 litres of rear cargo capacity
  • additional underfloor storage space
  • up to 1,266 litres with folded rear seats

That flexibility makes the vehicle more usable for shopping, luggage, and daily family needs.

Battery and driving range

The MG4 EV Urban uses a 43 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack paired with a 110 kW electric motor producing 250 Nm of torque.

MG claims:

  • up to 316 km WLTP driving range
  • 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds
  • DC fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in 28 minutes

The vehicle also includes regenerative braking and one pedal driving functionality to improve efficiency during urban travel.

Unlike larger electric SUVs, the focus here remains on predictable daily usability rather than maximum performance figures.

Interior focuses on smart technology

Inside, the cabin follows a modern digital layout without becoming overly complicated. MG combines touchscreen controls with physical buttons for important functions, helping improve usability during driving.

Key interior technology includes:

  • 12.8 inch infotainment touchscreen
  • 7 inch digital driver display
  • wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 15W wireless charging
  • built in entertainment apps
  • 360 degree HD camera system

The cabin also includes ambient lighting, heated steering wheel functionality, and a six speaker sound system.

Safety remains a major selling point

MG has equipped the hatchback with a long list of safety systems under its MG Pilot package.

The setup includes:

  • autonomous emergency braking
  • lane keep assistance
  • blind spot monitoring
  • multiple driver assistance systems
  • seven airbags

The vehicle also carries a 5 star ANCAP safety rating, which could become an important factor for family buyers considering a switch to electric mobility.

Instead of launching another expensive crossover, MG appears to be targeting practicality and urban convenience with the MG4 EV Urban. That strategy could help the company attract buyers who want an electric car for normal daily use rather than luxury appeal.

The success of the model will likely depend on charging support, after sales experience, and how buyers respond to compact EV ownership in Pakistan’s evolving market.
