The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving traffic flow in Islamabad, as Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa conducted a detailed inspection of the Shaheen Chowk Underpass project on Tuesday. The visit, accompanied by CDA Member Engineering Syed Nefasat Raza and other senior officials, focused on reviewing the pace and quality of the ongoing construction work.

During the briefing, the project team informed the chairman that excavation and structural work are progressing rapidly, with round-the-clock construction activities taking place to ensure the project’s timely completion. The CDA’s engineering teams have been mobilized in multiple shifts to maintain progress and meet the set deadline.

Chairman Randhawa emphasized the importance of adhering to strict quality control standards and maintaining construction excellence. He instructed the engineering staff that no compromise would be tolerated on the quality of materials or workmanship.

“The Shaheen Chowk Underpass is a key project that will significantly ease traffic congestion and provide a smoother, signal-free travel experience,” said Randhawa. “It will particularly benefit students and residents in nearby areas who face daily bottlenecks during peak hours.”

The underpass is designed to facilitate uninterrupted traffic flow, connecting key routes and reducing delays for commuters traveling across Islamabad’s busy corridors. Once completed, it is expected to reduce congestion, especially during school and office rush hours, improving accessibility for thousands of daily road users.

Randhawa also directed the Project Director and Resident Engineers to personally supervise on-site activities and ensure continuous monitoring of construction quality and safety measures. He added that the project is part of CDA’s broader initiative to upgrade Islamabad’s road infrastructure and make urban mobility more efficient.

A Step Toward a Smarter, Smoother Islamabad

The Shaheen Chowk Underpass represents another milestone in Islamabad’s infrastructure development agenda. With multiple ongoing projects aimed at creating signal-free corridors, the CDA seeks to modernize the capital’s transport network, reduce travel times, and enhance the city’s livability.

By prioritizing quality and speed, the CDA leadership aims to deliver the Shaheen Chowk Underpass within the approved timeline—reflecting the authority’s renewed focus on efficient urban planning and commuter convenience.
