After the successful rollout of electric buses in Punjab’s major cities, the provincial government has announced that Murree will be the next destination to benefit from this eco-friendly initiative. The announcement was made during an official event in Murree, where the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting green public transportation.
Initially launched in Lahore, the electric bus service has since been expanded to several cities, including Mianwali, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, and others. This move has been widely praised for reducing air pollution, cutting fuel dependency, and offering modern travel solutions to the public.
Green Mobility Comes to Murree
The introduction of electric buses in Murree is a significant step forward for sustainable transport in Pakistan’s most popular hill station. With Murree attracting thousands of visitors year-round, the new buses are expected to improve travel convenience, reduce traffic congestion, and support the region’s environmental protection goals.
By using zero-emission vehicles, the government aims to address growing concerns about carbon emissions and air quality, particularly in sensitive tourist destinations like Murree.
New Glass Rail Project Announced
Alongside the electric bus service, the Chief Minister also unveiled plans for a glass rail project connecting Rawalpindi to Murree. Once operational, this project will offer residents and tourists a modern, scenic, and efficient mode of transport, further boosting the region’s tourism and connectivity.
This dual investment in electric buses and rail infrastructure reflects Punjab’s broader commitment to green mobility and sustainable urban development, ensuring Murree remains both accessible and environmentally friendly for years to come.
