Karachi Launches Road Safety Campaign Ahead of Faceless E-Challan System

The Karachi Traffic Police, in collaboration with Lok Suhayta, has initiated a citywide campaign to raise awareness about road safety and the upcoming faceless e-challan system. The drive, launched across major intersections and traffic signals, is aimed at educating citizens on the importance of obeying traffic laws and preparing them for the city’s new automated traffic enforcement model.

According to a spokesperson for the Traffic Police, the faceless e-challan system will officially come into effect on October 1, 2025. Under this system, traffic violations will be detected through advanced surveillance cameras installed across Karachi. Instead of manual issuance, digital challans—supported with photographic or video evidence—will be sent directly to violators’ residences.

Officials emphasize that this process removes human interference, ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability. “This system ensures fairness and accountability—on your journey, Karachi Traffic Police is your companion,” the spokesperson stated.

As part of the awareness campaign, pamphlets are being distributed, while female constables, volunteers, and students from educational institutions are actively engaging with commuters to highlight the significance of following traffic regulations. The effort reflects a growing recognition that public participation is crucial for building a safer and more disciplined road culture.

Authorities believe that the faceless e-challan initiative will not only reduce traffic violations but also minimize corruption and arbitrary enforcement by relying solely on digital evidence. By combining modern technology with community awareness, the Karachi Traffic Police aims to transform the metropolis into a more organized, law-abiding, and commuter-friendly city.

With this step, Karachi joins global cities that rely on AI-driven monitoring and evidence-based enforcement to improve road safety, ensuring that every driver is held accountable for their actions.
