In a decisive step towards improving urban mobility and public transportation, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the immediate launch of the Yellow Line mass transit project. The new route will connect Jinnah Terminal to Harbanspura and is being positioned as a priority initiative under Punjab’s expanding public transit network.

The announcement came during a high-level meeting on Tuesday, where a comprehensive feasibility study for the Yellow Line was presented. After reviewing the findings, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the urgency of the project, instructing relevant departments to fast-track the development process.

Transforming Urban Mobility in Lahore

The Yellow Line is a key component of Punjab’s broader transportation vision aimed at modernizing public transit, reducing urban traffic congestion, and offering safe, affordable, and efficient travel options for daily commuters. Once operational, the Yellow Line will significantly ease the travel burden for residents commuting between eastern Lahore and major city hubs.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz underscored the importance of public convenience in every phase of planning and implementation. She called for integrated solutions that align with the real commuting needs of Lahore’s growing population.

Expanding Mass Transit to Other Cities

In addition to launching the Yellow Line in Lahore, CM Maryam Nawaz directed officials to submit a detailed report on possible mass transit routes for Gujranwala. She emphasized that urban transport expansion should be citizen-focused, ensuring that the infrastructure supports accessibility, connectivity, and sustainability.

This renewed push for mass transit reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to developing a modern, efficient, and inclusive transport system that benefits both urban and semi-urban populations.

As Punjab moves forward with the Yellow Line, commuters can expect enhanced connectivity, less road congestion, and a significant leap in public transport standards across the province.
