The UAE’s government-operated electric vehicle (EV) charging network, UAEV, has revealed new tariffs set to come into effect in January 2025. This move aligns with the nation’s vision for sustainability and the growth of a robust EV infrastructure.

New Charging Tariffs

The revised rates aim to maintain the scalability and efficiency of EV services:

  • DC Chargers: Dh1.20 per kWh (plus VAT)
  • AC Chargers: Dh0.70 per kWh (plus VAT)

Despite these adjustments, EV charging services have remained free since their introduction in May, making this the first instance of charges being applied.

Innovations to Enhance the EV Experience

To improve convenience for EV drivers, UAEV is set to launch a comprehensive mobile app. The app offers key features such as:

  • Locating nearby charging stations
  • Real-time updates on charger availability
  • Streamlined payment options

Additionally, UAEV will operate a 24/7 call center to provide instant support and ensure a seamless experience for users.

A Vision for Sustainability

Sharif Al Olama, Chairman of UAEV, shared, “Standardized tariffs and innovative solutions like the UAEV app reflect our dedication to enhancing the EV driver experience. Our goal is to align with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy and promote a cleaner, greener future.”

Expanding the Charging Network

In line with its commitment to accessibility, UAEV has ambitious plans to expand its network to include 1,000 chargers by 2030. These chargers will be strategically installed across:

  • Cities
  • Highways
  • Transit hubs

This extensive network aims to support both inter-city and intra-city EV users, ensuring a reliable and efficient charging experience across all emirates.

With its new tariffs, mobile app, and network expansion plans, UAEV is taking significant strides toward fostering a sustainable EV ecosystem in the UAE. These developments not only enhance the EV user experience but also contribute to the nation’s efforts to achieve its Net Zero 2050 Strategy.

A cleaner, greener future is within reach, powered by UAEV’s innovative and accessible EV solutions.
