Cadillac is making the 2027 Escalade IQ easier to charge with two important updates. The electric luxury SUV will switch from CCS1 to a native NACS charging port, while every trim will receive a more powerful 19.2 kW onboard charger.
The changes will also apply to the long-wheelbase Escalade IQL. These upgrades improve compatibility with Tesla Superchargers and allow owners to make better use of high-power 240-volt home charging.
2027 Cadillac Escalade IQ Gets Native NACS
The biggest charging change for the 2027 Escalade IQ is the move to a native NACS connector.
The new port eliminates the need for a CCS-to-NACS adapter when using compatible Tesla Superchargers and other public charging stations equipped with NACS connectors.
Owners will still be able to use CCS charging stations, but they will need a NACS-to-CCS adapter. Many public charging networks now offer both connector types, which should make the transition easier for Escalade owners. The NACS port can also connect directly to NACS home charging equipment.
What Is the 2027 Escalade IQ Onboard Charger?
Cadillac is also upgrading the onboard AC charger across the entire 2027 Escalade IQ lineup. The new model gets a 19.2 kW onboard charger, which supports a 240-volt, 80-amp connection. This is a significant improvement over the 11.5 kW charger fitted to the 2026 Luxury and Sport trims.
The 2026 Premium Luxury and Premium Sport already offered a 19.2 kW charger. For 2027, Cadillac will make the higher-power unit standard across the range.
This upgrade does not increase the vehicle’s DC fast-charging capability. Instead, it allows owners with suitable home electrical equipment to recharge the large battery more quickly using AC power.
Escalade IQ Comes With Dual-Level Charging Cable
The 2027 Cadillac Escalade IQ will also include a Dual Level Charge Cord as standard equipment.
The cable can connect to either a 120-volt or 240-volt outlet. A 240-volt connection provides substantially more charging power and is the better option for regularly charging the Escalade IQ at home.
A standard 120-volt household outlet provides only 1.4 kW through the included cable. With the Escalade IQ’s enormous 205 kWh battery, charging from empty to full at this rate could take almost a week.
For that reason, Level 1 charging is better suited to occasional use or emergency top-ups rather than routine full charging.
Can the 2027 Escalade IQ Use Tesla Superchargers?
Yes. The native NACS connector allows the 2027 Escalade IQ to connect directly to compatible Tesla Superchargers without a CCS-to-NACS adapter. This represents a significant convenience improvement over the outgoing model, which uses a CCS1 port.
The Escalade IQ can also use other NACS-equipped public charging stations. Drivers visiting a CCS charging location will need a NACS-to-CCS adapter.
NACS Also Changes Home Charging
The switch to NACS affects more than public fast charging. A homeowner with an existing NACS charger can connect it directly to the 2027 Escalade IQ. However, owners who already have a J1772 home charger will need an adapter.
This gives Cadillac customers more flexibility as NACS becomes increasingly common across the U.S. EV market.

General Motors plans to move its broader EV lineup from CCS1 to NACS for the 2027 model year. The Escalade IQ and Escalade IQL are therefore part of GM’s wider charging-standard transition.
What Does This Mean for Escalade IQ Owners?
The 2027 updates do not represent a major mechanical redesign. Instead, Cadillac is addressing one of the most important parts of EV ownership: charging convenience.
The native NACS port makes Tesla Supercharger access simpler, while the 19.2 kW onboard charger improves home AC charging for customers with suitable electrical installations.
The Escalade IQ’s 205 kWh battery remains extremely large, so charging speed and access to high-power equipment matter even more for this luxury electric SUV.
With NACS becoming the standard charging connector across GM’s 2027 EV lineup, the updated Escalade IQ should offer a more convenient charging experience both at home and on the road.
