Punjab Government Invites Bids for Electric Bus Project in Lahore

The Punjab government has taken a significant step towards addressing environmental concerns by inviting bids for its electric bus project. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve public transport in the province, with a focus on eco-friendly solutions, particularly in the provincial capital, Lahore.

The Punjab Transport Company (PTC) plans to operate 27 electric buses in Lahore, marking a major advancement in green transportation. The buses will be produced through a joint venture between Pakistani and Chinese firms, showcasing a strong collaboration to promote sustainable travel.

In the pilot phase of the project, electric buses will run on five routes, starting with the Railway Station to Green Town Hamdard Chowk route. This introduction of electric buses is expected to reduce pollution and contribute to cleaner air in Lahore, a city grappling with environmental challenges.

PTC has now moved to the next stage of the project by inviting bids from reputable companies for the operation and maintenance of the electric buses. Interested companies must be registered with relevant tax authorities and are required to submit their bids online via the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) portal by or before November 4.

The Evaluation Committee will open the bids in the presence of the bidders at 11:30 a.m. on the same day. To participate, companies must provide a bid security of Rs25 million.
