In a ceremony marked by optimism and ambition, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone for the Jinnah Square Underpass on Murree Road, Islamabad. Referred to as the “Pakistan Speed Underpass,” the project has quickly become a symbol of swift development and national ambition. Originally scheduled for completion in 60 days, the underpass is now expected to be completed in just 35 days, underscoring the government’s commitment to accelerated progress.
The Prime Minister praised the Interior Minister and his team for their efforts in reshaping the capital, citing noticeable improvements in Islamabad’s traffic system and ongoing urban renewal initiatives. From lush greenery to blooming flowers, the capital is being transformed into a city that reflects both natural beauty and modern infrastructure.
During his address, PM Shehbaz emphasized that Pakistan’s economic foundations are strengthening, and the country is moving firmly toward growth and prosperity. He highlighted the importance of unity and teamwork, referring to his administration as “Team Pakistan,” and stressed that development in any region uplifts the entire federation.
A major highlight of the Prime Minister’s speech was the announcement of a full-scale upgrade of the Karachi-Kalat-Khuzdar-Quetta-Chaman (N-25) Highway into a modern motorway. Once dubbed the “bloody path” due to the loss of over 2,000 lives, the highway will now be transformed into a safe and efficient transport route.
The project’s initial estimate of Rs 214 billion has been revised to over Rs 300 billion, demonstrating the government’s dedication to delivering high-quality infrastructure. Savings from recent petroleum price adjustments will be redirected toward funding this critical project. The Prime Minister personally pledged to oversee its timely completion within two years.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed his belief in equitable development, stating that progress in any province—be it Balochistan, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, or Azad Kashmir—contributes to the strength of the entire nation. He pointed to the 2010 NFC Award, in which Balochistan’s share was doubled through consensus, as a testament to his inclusive approach to national governance.
He further emphasized that a shared vision between political and military leadership ensures that every region, even the most remote, benefits from Pakistan’s development roadmap.
From the Pakistan Speed Underpass in Islamabad to the game-changing N-25 motorway in Balochistan, PM Shehbaz Sharif is steering the nation toward faster, inclusive, and impactful infrastructure development. These initiatives reflect a unified effort to transform Pakistan’s landscape, reduce regional disparities, and build a stronger, more connected future.
