The National Highway Authority (NHA) has granted approval for the construction of an interchange for Housing Society 18, located near the Motorway link road in Islamabad. The much-awaited decision came after significant intervention from the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman), Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi. This approval marks a major step forward for the developers and residents of the housing society, ending years of delays and frustrations.
In 2019, Elite Estate (Pvt) Ltd., the developers behind Housing Society 18, applied for the construction of an interchange to provide better access to the society from the Motorway link road. The company followed all the necessary procedures by submitting the required design plans and a cheque for Rs. 72,585,000, in addition to paying a processing fee of Rs. 5 million. Despite fulfilling all the formalities, the project faced repeated delays, leaving the developers and residents in limbo.
After years of waiting without progress, Elite Estate approached the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman), Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, to address the issue. The society’s management highlighted the significant inconvenience caused to its residents due to the lack of proper access roads and the NHA’s inaction on the project. Multiple hearings were conducted at the Ombudsman’s Secretariat, resulting in the NHA’s approval for the interchange construction.
The approval by the NHA is seen as a major relief for the residents of Housing Society 18. The construction of the interchange will not only enhance connectivity but also improve traffic flow and accessibility to the society. The housing society’s management expressed their gratitude to the Wafaqi Mohtasib for taking timely action and ensuring that the long-delayed project finally received the green light.
Following the approval, the head of Housing Society 18 thanked Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi and the Ombudsman’s office for their relentless support in bringing this matter to resolution. The developer emphasized that this milestone would significantly improve the living experience for residents and would also contribute to the overall development of the area.
The approval for the interchange construction at Housing Society 18 near the Motorway link road in Islamabad marks the end of a prolonged delay. With the intervention of the Wafaqi Mohtasib, the project is now set to proceed, offering hope to other similar developments facing administrative bottlenecks. As the construction moves forward, residents and stakeholders are eager to see the positive impact on traffic management and connectivity in the region.
