The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued an urgent traffic alert regarding the closure of major motorways for essential road maintenance. According to the official notification, the closures will begin at 8:00 PM on November 22, 2024, and will affect several key motorways across Pakistan. Travelers are advised to be aware of these closures and plan their trips accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

Closed Motorways
The following motorways will be closed to traffic for maintenance work:

  • M-1 (Peshawar to Islamabad)
  • M-2 (Lahore to Islamabad)
  • M-3 (Lahore to Abdulhakeem)
  • M-4 (Pindi Bhattian to Multan)
  • M-11 (Sialkot to Lahore)
  • M-14 (Hakla to Yarik)

These closures are part of a scheduled maintenance initiative aimed at improving the safety and condition of the roads. Motorists should be aware that while maintenance work is taking place, alternative routes may be congested, and travel times could increase. The NHMP has recommended that the general public refrain from unnecessary travel, especially in the affected areas, to minimize disruption and ensure safety during the repair work.

The NHMP has also emphasized the importance of staying updated on the status of these roads. For the latest information on road conditions, travelers can contact the National Highways and Motorway Police helpline at 130. The helpline will provide real-time updates, assist with alternative route suggestions, and offer support to travelers in need of guidance during this period.

Important Notice:
If you had plans to travel to Islamabad from other cities, it is advised to postpone or reschedule your journey. Given the closure of major routes, reaching the capital could be challenging and time-consuming. It is recommended to stay at home or explore alternative routes outside the closed motorway areas.

The NHMP urges all travelers to cooperate with authorities and exercise patience while the necessary maintenance work is completed. By taking these precautions, road safety will be improved for everyone in the long run.
