The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced yet another increase in the toll for the Lyari Expressway, raising it from Rs. 50 to Rs. 60. This marks the second toll hike in just three months, as the toll was previously increased from Rs. 40 to Rs. 50. The frequent increments have sparked widespread frustration among daily commuters.

Public Outrage Over Repeated Toll Hikes

Citizens have voiced their outrage, calling the repeated toll hikes an additional burden on their already strained finances. Many have questioned the justification for these frequent increases, especially in such a short span of time.

“These toll hikes are unfair and unjustified,” said a regular commuter. “With rising fuel prices and inflation, this is yet another expense that we have to bear daily.”

The move has also drawn criticism from various quarters, with citizens demanding greater accountability and transparency in the NHA’s decision-making process.

Criticism of NHA’s Policies

The repeated toll increases have fueled public criticism of the National Highway Authority. Commuters are questioning whether the additional funds are being used to improve the infrastructure and maintenance of the Lyari Expressway or if the hikes are merely a revenue-generating measure.

Citizens have called for a review of the toll pricing policy, urging the NHA to consider the financial challenges faced by the public before implementing such decisions.

Impact on Daily Commuters

For many, the Lyari Expressway is a vital route that saves time and reduces traffic congestion in Karachi. However, the consistent toll hikes are making it increasingly unaffordable for daily users.

“I rely on the Lyari Expressway to reach work on time, but these frequent toll hikes make me question if it’s even worth it,” lamented another commuter.

The increase in the Lyari Expressway toll has left commuters frustrated, with many questioning the fairness and necessity of these frequent hikes. As public criticism grows, there is a growing demand for the NHA to reconsider its toll policies and provide clarity on the reasons behind these decisions.
