By Lahore Traffic Police has issued a Lahore Traffic Advisory Today for the Nabi Pur Shian Muharram procession, informing citizens about temporary road closures, traffic diversions, and alternate travel routes across key areas of the city on June 22, 2026.
The advisory has been issued to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain security arrangements during the religious procession. Authorities have urged motorists to plan their journeys in advance and avoid affected routes during peak procession hours.
Muharram Procession Route in Lahore
According to Lahore Traffic Police, the Muharram procession will begin from Imambargah Syed Abdullah Shah, move through Street Nabi Pur Shian, and return to the same location where it will conclude.
To facilitate the procession and ensure public safety, traffic restrictions will remain in effect from 1:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
Roads Closed in Lahore Today
As part of the traffic plan, the following route will remain closed for all kinds of traffic:
- Canal Road from Mughalpura Underpass to Lal Pul
- Canal Road from Mughalpura Underpass to Nawan Pul
These closures are expected to impact daily commuters traveling through eastern Lahore and surrounding areas.
Alternate Routes for Commuters
To minimize inconvenience, Lahore Traffic Police has arranged a temporary two-way traffic system for vehicles moving between Mughalpura and Lal Pul/Nawan Pul.
However, in case of heavy traffic congestion, vehicles may be diverted through:
- Mughalpura Bridge
- Saddar Cantt
- Link Road
Motorists are advised to use these alternative routes and avoid unnecessary travel near the procession route.

Officials have requested citizens traveling towards Canal Road, Mughalpura, Lal Pul, Nawan Pul, and nearby localities to leave early and follow the instructions of traffic wardens deployed across the area.
