In a significant step towards improving road safety and traffic management, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has introduced a new policy targeting drivers without valid licenses in Karachi. The initiative aims to enhance driver discipline and curb the increasing number of traffic-related issues in the city.

Addressing Untrained Drivers and Traffic Jams

Highlighting the critical role of untrained drivers in causing traffic jams and accidents, IG Memon emphasized that improper driving practices contribute significantly to road delays and risks. To counter this, the new policy mandates the seizure of vehicles and motorcycles operated by individuals without a valid driving license.

“Untrained drivers are a major cause of traffic congestion and accidents. This policy is designed to address these challenges and improve road safety for everyone,” Memon stated.

Stricter Enforcement and Accountability

The Sindh Police will enforce stricter rules to ensure compliance with the new policy. As part of these measures, a system will be introduced to monitor and track repeat offenders. Drivers caught without a license multiple times will face legal consequences, underscoring the seriousness of the crackdown.

In addition to targeting offenders, the policy also aims to ensure accountability within the police force. Officers failing to register cases promptly will face disciplinary action, with Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) held accountable for any lapses in enforcement. This dual focus on offenders and police accountability is expected to reinforce the initiative’s effectiveness.

Broader Efforts for Safer Roads

This policy is part of a broader strategy to streamline traffic management and enhance public safety on Karachi’s roads. By addressing the root causes of road accidents and delays, the authorities hope to establish a more organized and efficient traffic system.

With the introduction of these measures, Karachi is taking a vital step towards safer roads, reduced congestion, and improved public safety for all citizens. As the policy is implemented, its success will depend on consistent enforcement and public cooperation.
