Karachi residents no longer need to endure long trips to licensing offices to get their driving licenses, thanks to a new, innovative service. The city has introduced a Driving License Mobile Van that brings the licensing process directly to local neighborhoods. This on-the-go service, which began operating last week, aims to simplify the process for residents throughout Karachi, providing a convenient, accessible option especially beneficial for those less familiar with online applications.

Bringing Licensing Services Closer to Residents

Currently stationed at Pakistan Chowk, the mobile van offers services comparable to those found at central licensing offices, sparing applicants the need for time-consuming visits to far-off locations. According to DIG Driving License Iqbal Darar, the mobile van follows a set schedule, moving to different neighborhoods each week to maximize its reach and serve as many people as possible. This flexible approach allows citizens across Karachi to benefit from license services right in their own areas.

What Services Does the Mobile Van Offer?

The Driving License Mobile Van is equipped to handle all essential processes required for obtaining a driving license. This includes:

  • Processing fees: Applicants can pay fees directly on-site, streamlining the process.
  • Printing receipts: Receipts for all payments are generated instantly.
  • Application handling: Applicants can submit required documents, complete forms, and undergo verification, all within the mobile unit.

Once applicants complete their paperwork with the mobile van, they can collect their finalized driving licenses at any licensing branch after 42 days.

Service for Both Government and Private Institutions

In addition to serving residents in public locations, the mobile van service can also be requested by both government and private institutions. This feature allows companies to arrange on-site visits from the van, making it easier for employees to access licensing services without disrupting their work schedules. Institutions can benefit from this arrangement by providing their staff with a convenient licensing solution at their place of employment.

A Step Toward Accessible Public Services

This initiative highlights a significant shift toward making public services more accessible and user-friendly in Karachi. By addressing the needs of residents who may struggle with online applications, the mobile van brings an inclusive approach to licensing services. It reflects a commitment to leveraging mobile technology to meet the evolving needs of Karachi’s citizens, ensuring that essential services are easily accessible, regardless of location.

With the Driving License Mobile Van, Karachi residents can now look forward to a more convenient and flexible way to manage their licensing needs, right in their neighborhoods.

Transporters across Pakistan have increased intercity bus fares by Rs. 50 to Rs. 300 following the government’s recent petrol and diesel price hike. Passengers say the higher fares for routes like Lahore to Sialkot and Kotli are adding to their financial burden at a time of rising inflation, while transporters insist the hike is necessary due to soaring operational costs.
