Excise Department Sets January Deadline for Vehicle Token Tax Payment In Islamabad

The Excise and Taxation Department in Islamabad has announced a 15-day deadline for vehicle owners to clear their token taxes, starting from January 1, 2025. Vehicle owners failing to meet this deadline will face severe consequences, including the cancellation of their vehicle registrations.

Automated System to Identify Defaulters

To streamline enforcement, the department’s software will automatically flag vehicles with unpaid token taxes. Once flagged, owners will not only lose their registration but will also need to pay a hefty 200% penalty to restore it after the deadline.

Crackdown on Defaulters

This strict measure comes in response to the rising number of token tax defaulters in Islamabad. Despite efforts by excise officers to impose fines, many vehicles with overdue taxes continue to evade compliance. Some vehicles have even been caught multiple times for the same violation, prompting the need for stronger enforcement.

Message from the Authorities

Director Bilal Azam Khan has urged vehicle owners to take the matter seriously and pay their token taxes promptly. The department is hopeful that this measure will reduce the number of defaulters and encourage timely compliance with tax regulations.

Avoid Legal Consequences

Vehicle owners are advised to act quickly to avoid penalties, legal issues, and additional costs. With the automated system in place, the Excise Department is committed to ensuring that all vehicles on the road comply with token tax regulations.

Don’t wait until it’s too late—clear your dues today to avoid unnecessary penalties and complications!
