Islamabad Traffic Police Issue Special Advisory Ahead of Pakistan-Australia ODI Series

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory for residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi ahead of the highly anticipated One Day International (ODI) series between Pakistan and Australia, which begins on May 30, 2026, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

With thousands of cricket fans expected to travel to the venue, authorities anticipate heavy traffic flow across the twin cities. To manage congestion and ensure public safety, temporary traffic diversions will be implemented on several major roads connecting Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

According to an official spokesperson of Islamabad Traffic Police, traffic diversions will be enforced at different times on Club Road, Murree Road, Srinagar Highway, and the Islamabad Expressway. These routes are among the busiest corridors in the region and are expected to experience increased traffic pressure before and after match timings.

The police have urged commuters to adjust their travel schedules and leave their homes at least 20 to 25 minutes earlier than usual to avoid delays. Citizens have also been advised to use alternative routes and service roads whenever possible during diversion periods.

Officials emphasized that traffic wardens and police personnel will be deployed at key intersections and road junctions to assist motorists and maintain a smooth flow of traffic. Special arrangements have also been made to facilitate emergency services and public transport operations during match days.

The advisory comes as cricket fever grips the country ahead of the Pakistan-Australia ODI series. The opening match, scheduled at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, is expected to attract a large number of spectators from both Islamabad and Rawalpindi, leading to temporary traffic congestion in surrounding areas.

Authorities have requested the public to cooperate with traffic officials and follow road signs and instructions to minimize inconvenience. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official communication channels for real-time updates regarding road closures, diversions, and traffic conditions.
