Islamabad to Become Pakistan’s First Green-Fuel City with EV Charging Stations by 2030

The meeting reviewed progress on the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025–30, which aims to significantly cut Pakistan’s dependence on fossil fuels while reducing harmful vehicular emissions.

Key officials from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), State Bank of Pakistan, Ministry of Climate Change, and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) attended the session, where they discussed infrastructure, financial incentives, battery performance, and vehicle emissions standards.

Islamabad’s plan includes installing EV charging points at every fuel station and key urban spots by 2030. Nationwide, over 3,000 EV charging stations are expected to be operational by the end of this year, ensuring that the anticipated 2.2 million electric motorcycles and cars on Pakistani roads over the next five years will have the support they need.
