Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the CM Punjab E-Taxi Scheme as part of Punjab’s long-term clean mobility and employment initiative. Designed to modernize urban transport while reducing pollution, the program promotes the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and provides income opportunities to skilled drivers across the province. Backed by Rs. 3.5 billion in government subsidies, this project reflects the provincial government’s commitment to a greener and more sustainable transportation network.

Key Features of the Scheme

Under the first rollout phase, the Punjab government will distribute 1,100 electric taxis on easy and interest-free installments. The initiative aims to:

  • Promote eco-friendly and clean transportation
  • Reduce carbon emissions in urban centers
  • Create employment opportunities
  • Encourage women’s participation in the public transport sector

To ensure inclusivity and safe mobility, a special quota of 30 electric taxis has been reserved for women drivers.
