While M-Tags have been widely used by frequent motorway travelers for years, they will no longer be optional after the deadline. Why M-Tag is Becoming Mandatory?

New Replacement Charges Introduced
One Network has also revised M-Tag replacement charges. Previously, motorists could replace older tags free of cost until May 31, 2026. However, the pricing structure has now changed:
- Until June 30, 2026: Replacement fee of Rs. 150.
- After July 1, 2026: Replacement fee may increase to Rs. 300.
Motorists with aging tags are therefore advised to replace them as soon as possible to avoid paying higher fees later.
Cash Recharge Facility to End
Another major development is the discontinuation of cash-based M-Tag recharges. According to the advisory, cash recharge services will end on June 30, 2026, marking a complete shift toward digital payment methods.
Users will increasingly need to rely on online banking, mobile wallets, and digital payment platforms to maintain their M-Tag balances. The M-Tag mobile application offers several convenient features, including:
- Balance checking
- Travel history tracking
- Online account recharge
- Account management services
