Chery is preparing to expand its presence in Pakistan with the launch of the Tiggo 7 PHEV, a new plug in hybrid SUV aimed at the growing demand for fuel efficient vehicles. The model is scheduled to debut on April 10 and will enter the competitive C segment SUV category with a focus on affordability and advanced hybrid technology.
The launch marks another step in Chery’s strategy to grow its new energy vehicle lineup in Pakistan. The company has already introduced hybrid models in the market, and the Tiggo 7 PHEV is expected to strengthen its position further as fuel prices continue to rise.
Chery will offer the Tiggo 7 PHEV as a locally assembled CKD unit. This approach helps manage costs and supports quicker deliveries. According to the company, customer deliveries are expected to begin by June 2026, depending on booking demand.
Power Performance and Key Features
The Tiggo 7 PHEV uses Chery’s fifth generation Super Hybrid system. It combines a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine with an 18.3 kWh battery and a dedicated hybrid transmission. This setup produces 342 horsepower and 525 Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in 8.4 seconds.
Chery claims the SUV can deliver over 90 kilometers of pure electric range. The total combined driving range exceeds 1200 kilometers, making it suitable for both daily city use and long distance travel. The company also states that fuel costs can drop by more than 70 percent when drivers rely on electric mode for regular commuting.
The vehicle includes a range of modern features designed to appeal to tech focused buyers. These include:
- Eight airbags for improved safety
- Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems
- A 24.6 inch dual display setup
- Sony premium audio system
- Vehicle to load capability for external power use
These features place the Tiggo 7 PHEV among the more advanced options in its segment.
Launch Timing
The timing of the launch is significant as Pakistan’s automotive market shifts toward electrified vehicles. Rising fuel costs and increasing awareness of hybrid technology are driving interest in plug in hybrid SUVs. However, options in this category remain limited, giving Chery an opportunity to capture early demand.
Master Auto Engineering, part of the Master Group, manages Chery’s operations in Pakistan. The company has already developed a nationwide dealership and service network, which will support the rollout of the new model. Test drive units are expected to be available across major cities soon after launch.
