By The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has officially initiated development work on a new underpass at Margalla Enclave on Park Road, a major infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow in one of Islamabad’s rapidly developing areas. With construction now underway, the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has released a comprehensive traffic management plan to minimize inconvenience for daily commuters.
According to officials, Park Road is expected to face increased congestion during construction, particularly during peak hours. To manage traffic efficiently, multiple diversions have been introduced, and citizens are strongly advised to follow the issued plan and allow additional travel time.
Traffic Diversion Plan Details
Rawal Dam Chowk to Tramri
- Traffic will be diverted via NIH Road
- Vehicles will pass through Mohra Noor
- Traffic will merge back onto Park Road after the diversion
Tramri to Rawal Dam Chowk
- Diversion will begin near Chai Khana
- Vehicles will be routed through the CDA Nursery
- Traffic will move along the iron grill section
- Two temporary roads have been constructed for smoother flow
- Vehicles will rejoin Park Road after completing the diversion
Alternate Routes for Commuters
To avoid delays and congestion, motorists are encouraged to use the following alternate routes:
- Lehtrar Road
- Khanna Pul
- Islamabad Expressway
These routes are expected to reduce pressure on Park Road, especially during rush hours.
Travel Advisory for Citizens
The Islamabad Traffic Police has warned that ongoing construction could place significant strain on Park Road traffic. Commuters are advised to:
- Add 20 to 30 minutes to their usual travel time
- Follow traffic signs and instructions from deployed personnel
- Avoid unnecessary travel through the affected area during peak hours
