The electronic toll collection system, already operational on motorways, will soon be enforced strictly within the capital.
Officials have confirmed that from January 15, automated M-Tag readers at toll plazas will begin full enforcement. Vehicles without a valid M-Tag may be stopped, fined, or turned back, particularly on key entry and exit points connected to motorways and expressways. The move aims to streamline traffic flow, reduce congestion, and ensure transparency in toll collection.
Strict Enforcement from January 15
Authorities have made it clear that there will be no leniency after the deadline. Automated scanners will detect vehicles without registered M-Tags, making it nearly impossible for untagged vehicles to pass toll plazas unnoticed. Motorists who delay installation risk long queues, inconvenience, and financial penalties.
15 M-Tag Registration Centers Across Islamabad
To facilitate compliance and manage the expected rush, One Network has established 15 fixed M-Tag registration centers across Islamabad. These centers are strategically located to provide easy access to residents in different sectors:
