With fewer than 15 days remaining before Islamabad’s extended M-Tag installation deadline, authorities have intensified their warnings to motorists, urging them to complete the process immediately to avoid fines, delays, and possible entry restrictions on major routes. The electronic toll collection system, already operational on motorways, will soon be enforced strictly within the capital.
Officials have confirmed that from January 15, automated M-Tag readers at toll plazas will begin full enforcement. Vehicles without a valid M-Tag may be stopped, fined, or turned back, particularly on key entry and exit points connected to motorways and expressways. The move aims to streamline traffic flow, reduce congestion, and ensure transparency in toll collection.
Strict Enforcement from January 15
Authorities have made it clear that there will be no leniency after the deadline. Automated scanners will detect vehicles without registered M-Tags, making it nearly impossible for untagged vehicles to pass toll plazas unnoticed. Motorists who delay installation risk long queues, inconvenience, and financial penalties.
15 M-Tag Registration Centers Across Islamabad
To facilitate compliance and manage the expected rush, One Network has established 15 fixed M-Tag registration centers across Islamabad. These centers are strategically located to provide easy access to residents in different sectors:
- M1 Toll Plaza (Exit)
- M2 Toll Plaza (Exit)
- 26 Number Stop
- Gulberg Greens
- Metro Cash & Carry (I-11)
- ETO Office (H-9)
- Gol Market (F-7)
- Parade Ground
- Kachnar Park (I-8)
- Tarlai CFC
- Phulgran
- F-9 Park
- Lake View Park
- Soan Gardens
- Police Check Post (G-14)
In addition to these fixed sites, four mobile M-Tag registration units have also been deployed. These mobile teams are rotating through high-traffic areas to cater to last-minute applicants and reduce congestion at permanent centers.
Authorities Warn Against Last-Minute Rush
Traffic and transport officials are strongly advising motorists not to wait until the final days, warning that heavy queues are expected as the deadline approaches. Early registration not only saves time but also ensures uninterrupted travel once enforcement begins.
Helpline for Public Assistance
Motorists seeking information about registration timings, required documents, or center locations can contact the official helpline at 1313. Authorities recommend confirming details before visiting a center to avoid unnecessary delays.
Why Immediate Compliance Matters?
With enforcement set to begin soon, installing an M-Tag is no longer optional for Islamabad motorists. Completing the process now ensures smooth travel, avoids fines, and supports a more efficient traffic management system across the capital.
