Murree Glass Train: Route, Stations, Timings & Fare Details Revealed

The Punjab Masstransit Authority (PMA) has officially revealed the first detailed information about the highly anticipated Murree Glass Train, an innovative and eco-friendly electric monorail system designed to revolutionize travel between Islamabad and Murree. This modern transport project aims to offer a scenic, fast, and sustainable alternative to the usually congested road route to the popular hill station.

According to PMA, the Murree Glass Train will begin its journey at Lake View Park in Islamabad and travel all the way to a newly planned station near the Murree bus stand. The entire trip is expected to take only 40 minutes, making it significantly faster than traditional road travel, especially during peak tourist seasons when traffic congestion is at its worst.

The monorail system will feature four stations along its route:

  1. Lake View Park (Islamabad)
  2. Chattar Park
  3. Ghora Gali
  4. Murree Bus Stand (final stop)

These stops have been selected to serve both tourists and local travelers, providing convenient and accessible boarding points throughout the journey.

To make the service affordable to all, PMA has announced two fare categories:

  • Standard Ticket: Rs. 500
  • Premium Ticket: Rs. 1,000

The premium class is expected to offer enhanced comfort and better viewing experience, making it appealing for tourists seeking a smoother and more luxurious ride.

The Murree Glass Train’s standout feature is its glass-walled design, allowing passengers to enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Margalla Hills and Murree’s scenic landscapes. Running entirely on an electric monorail system, the project focuses strongly on environmental sustainability. The train will help reduce road traffic, cut emissions, and support greener tourism in the region.

Once operational, the Murree Glass Train is set to become a major attraction itself, providing a unique, fast, and eco-friendly travel experience that reshapes transportation between Islamabad and Murree.
