In preparation for the annual Tablighi Ijtima, the Punjab government has completed large-scale road maintenance and patchwork work in Raiwind and surrounding areas. The initiative, undertaken on the special directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and improved accessibility for the hundreds of thousands of participants attending the religious gathering.
Officials from the Lahore Highway Division reported that 13 development projects worth Rs5.68 billion have been completed, covering nearly 70 kilometers of key connecting roads. The government also achieved a cost saving of Rs600 million through transparent and competitive tendering processes — a significant milestone in ensuring efficiency and accountability in public projects.
Authorities confirmed that four major connecting roads in Raiwind have been fully repaired and reopened for traffic. Workers carried out extensive patchwork, shoulder restoration, and lane marking, giving the area a refreshed appearance ahead of the Ijtima.
On the Sundar–Raiwind Road, maintenance has been completed up to Ijtima Chowk, including full shoulder dressing and fresh lane markings. Similarly, Mian Ji Abdullah Road and the 2-kilometer Sundar-to-Markaz section have undergone complete rehabilitation to enhance travel convenience.
Additionally, the 11-kilometer Pajian Bypass to Bachoki Phatak route has been repaired and upgraded with new shoulder roads. The 2.5-kilometer section of Railway Road has also been reconstructed, ensuring uninterrupted mobility for attendees arriving from different regions.
This initiative reflects Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s commitment to improving Punjab’s infrastructure and ensuring the comfort of citizens during major events. By expediting road repair and maintenance projects, her administration has demonstrated efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness to public needs.
The completion of these projects ahead of schedule not only facilitates pilgrims attending the Tablighi Ijtima but also provides long-term benefits for local communities, traders, and daily commuters in Raiwind and surrounding areas.
With the successful completion of Raiwind road repairs, the Punjab government has delivered on its promise to enhance infrastructure and safety for the Tablighi Ijtima 2025. The transparent execution and significant cost savings highlight a renewed focus on governance and service delivery under CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s leadership — ensuring smoother journeys and better facilities for all.
