The Lahore Traffic Police has announced a stricter policy to tackle traffic rule violations, reducing the number of e-challans required to blacklist or seize vehicles. Under the new regulations, vehicles with 25 unpaid e-challans and motorcycles with 10 unpaid e-challans will face immediate action.

According to officials, this measure aims to strengthen traffic law enforcement and ensure compliance among habitual offenders. Previously, the threshold for blacklisting was 50 unpaid e-challans, which many drivers exploited to delay payment of fines.

New Enforcement Phases

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Athar Waheed stated that the new policy will be implemented in three phases to streamline enforcement:

  1. Phase 1: Vehicles with 25 e-challans and motorcycles with 10 e-challans will be seized.
  2. Phase 2: Vehicles and motorcycles with 25 unpaid e-challans will be blacklisted.
  3. Phase 3: Those with 10 unpaid e-challans will also face seizure by the authorities.

Once seized, vehicles with unpaid fines will remain impounded at the respective police stations until all dues are cleared.

Coordinated Crackdown with Safe City Authority

CTO Athar Waheed further explained that the Lahore Traffic Police is working closely with the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) to identify and take action against e-challan defaulters. The integrated camera surveillance and digital monitoring systems will help officers track non-compliant vehicles in real-time, ensuring transparency and accuracy in enforcement.

Promoting Safer Roads and Accountability

The new e-challan enforcement framework reflects Lahore Police’s commitment to promoting road safety, discipline, and accountability. Officials believe that stricter penalties and the threat of vehicle impoundment will deter repeat offenders and encourage citizens to clear their dues promptly.

Motorists are advised to check their e-challan status regularly through the PSCA or Punjab Police e-challan portals and pay pending fines to avoid legal action or vehicle seizure.

The updated e-challan policy is based on official information from Lahore Traffic Police and may be subject to revision by the authorities.
