The federal government has introduced electronic balloting for electric two- and three-wheelers under the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) Scheme, a milestone toward cleaner, more affordable, and eco-friendly transport. The initiative reflects Pakistan’s commitment to advancing its National Electric Vehicle Policy (NEVP) and addressing both economic and environmental challenges.
The digital draw was inaugurated by Federal Secretary for Industries and Production Saif Anjum in the presence of senior officials, including EDB CEO Khuda Bux and Additional Secretary Asif Saeed Lughmani.
40,000 Bikes and 1,000 Rickshaws Allotted
Through the computerized balloting conducted via the PAVE Online Portal, the government allotted 40,000 electric motorcycles and 1,000 electric rickshaws to successful applicants from across Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Out of 269,161 applications received, winners can now verify results using their CNIC or application ID.
To ensure fairness, the process was monitored by a dedicated oversight committee. Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) will handle vehicle delivery, warranties, and after-sales services, ensuring buyers receive reliable support.
Attractive Subsidies for Buyers
The PAVE subsidy program is designed to make e-mobility more accessible. Buyers of electric motorcycles will receive a subsidy of Rs. 50,000 on bank leasing or Rs. 80,000 on self-financing. For electric rickshaws, subsidies go up to Rs. 200,000 through leasing and Rs. 400,000 for self-financed purchases.
Economic and Environmental Benefits
Officials highlighted that the scheme will generate fuel savings worth $1 billion annually while cutting 4.5 million tons of carbon emissions. Additionally, it is expected to create over 100,000 green jobs, supporting Pakistan’s long-term sustainability goals.
