Fuel consumers in Pakistan may soon face another price hike as the oil industry has proposed short-term increases in petroleum rates for the next 15 days. According to industry sources, the adjustment of petrol prices Pakistan covers all major petroleum products and, if approved, will take effect from September 16, 2025.

Proposed Increases and Next Steps

The suggested increase for petrol is Rs 1.54 per liter. While high-speed diesel (HSD) is expected to rise by Rs 4.79 per liter. Kerosene oil could see an increase of Rs 3.60 per liter and light diesel oil may go up by Rs 3.68 per liter. These figures are based on the industry’s internal calculations and do not yet account for government taxes or currency exchange losses, which could affect the final prices.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will submit its recommendations to the government today, September 15. After reviewing the industry’s proposal. The Prime Minister will then give the final approval. Following this the Finance Ministry will issue an official notification to implement the revised rates nationwide. The new prices, once announced, will remain in effect for the designated 15-day cycle.

As of now, the current fuel prices in Pakistan, set on September 1, 2025, stand at Rs 264.61 per liter for petrol (super) and Rs 269.99 per liter for diesel. Motorists are being advised to keep an eye on the official notification to know the exact updated rates.

This potential hike reflects global oil market fluctuations, currency exchange movements, and the cost of imported fuel. Any increase in petroleum prices has a ripple effect on transport fares, goods movement, and household budgets. Making the upcoming government decision particularly significant for consumers and businesses alike.
