Rawalpindi Traffic Police Announce New Traffic Management Plan for Schools Reopening

As schools and colleges across Rawalpindi reopen, the City Traffic Police (CTP) has introduced a comprehensive traffic management plan to tackle congestion on major roads and in educational zones. The initiative aims to ensure smoother traffic flow and safer commutes for students, parents, and the general public.

Deployment of Additional Traffic Personnel

According to a CTP spokesperson, extra traffic wardens will be deployed on busy highways, intersections, and outside schools and colleges during peak hours. These measures are intended to reduce bottlenecks that often arise during student pick-and-drop timings.

In addition, forklifts will be stationed in key areas to deal with illegal parking and vehicles that block traffic lanes. This step reflects the department’s focus on proactive enforcement to keep the roads clear.

Focus on School Zones

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Farhan Aslam has instructed circle and sector in-charges to prepare area-specific strategies with special emphasis on school zones. Extra officers will be present during school dismissal hours, ensuring traffic remains smooth as parents gather to pick up their children.

The plan also strictly prohibits double parking, parking on one-way streets, and the placement of pushcarts outside schools, which often create unnecessary obstructions.

Warnings and Guidelines

CTO Aslam has made it clear that strict action will be taken against anyone obstructing traffic or causing difficulties for road users. He further appealed to school and college administrations to designate proper pick-and-drop lanes outside campuses to reduce roadside congestion.

At the same time, citizens, especially parents and drivers, are urged to follow traffic rules responsibly to help ensure safety and prevent chaos during rush hours.

A Step Toward Safer Roads

With the reopening of educational institutions, traffic volumes in Rawalpindi have significantly increased. The CTP’s new management plan demonstrates a proactive approach to minimizing traffic jams, enhancing road safety, and improving the overall commuting experience for the city’s residents.
