Pakistan Railways Faces Severe Delays Due to Heavy Monsoon Rains

Heavy monsoon rains across Pakistan have severely disrupted railway services, leading to long delays, suspended departures, and widespread inconvenience for passengers. In Karachi, continuous downpours have flooded railway tracks, making it unsafe for trains to operate on schedule.

Train Services Affected

Pakistan Railways has announced that several major trains are experiencing delays of multiple hours, while some departures have been suspended entirely. Services impacted include:

  • Bahauddin Zakariya Express
  • Fareed Express
  • Shah Hussain Express
  • Several other long-distance routes

Passengers across different cities have been left stranded at stations, many waiting for hours without clear information about departure times. The disruptions are particularly concerning as thousands were planning to travel before the upcoming Eid holidays or for urgent commitments.

Safety and Operational Concerns

Flooded railway tracks pose serious safety risks, making it impossible for trains to maintain normal schedules. Railway officials have had to adjust timetables and suspend certain departures until conditions improve.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also issued warnings of continued heavy rainfall in the coming days, raising fears of further disruptions.

Passenger Guidance

Pakistan Railways has urged commuters to:

  • Stay updated through official railway announcements.
  • Confirm departure times before heading to stations.
  • Expect potential delays as weather conditions remain unstable.

Authorities emphasized that passenger safety is the top priority, and trains will only resume normal operations once tracks are declared safe.

The Pakistan Railways delays caused by monsoon rains highlight the challenges the country faces during the rainy season. With more downpours expected, passengers are advised to plan accordingly, stay informed, and remain patient as railway officials work to manage the crisis.
