Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HCAR), a subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., Ltd, has confirmed plans to launch a hybrid vehicle in Pakistan, featuring Honda Sensing, the company’s advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS). The announcement was made by HCAR President and CEO Masaya Wakuda during the automaker’s annual general meeting (AGM).
Addressing shareholder concerns regarding the absence of hybrid options in Honda’s local portfolio, Wakuda highlighted that Honda has been a global leader in hybrid technology for years, particularly in the United States, where hybrid vehicles make up a significant share of the company’s sales.
Now, Honda is preparing to bring that expertise to Pakistan. Wakuda stated:
“In addition to introducing Honda’s hybrid technology, the new model will feature Honda Sensing, offering drivers advanced safety and assistance functions.”
The inclusion of Honda Sensing will make the upcoming hybrid one of the most technologically advanced vehicles in Pakistan’s market, with features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, collision mitigation braking, and road departure mitigation.
The announcement comes at a time when competition in the hybrid vehicle market in Pakistan is heating up. Recently, Toyota Pakistan revealed plans to invest $100 million in hybrid technology over the next few years, aiming to strengthen its presence as an early mover in the eco-friendly vehicle segment.
With Honda entering the hybrid race, Pakistani consumers can expect more choices, advanced features, and potentially greater competition driving innovation in the local auto industry.
During the AGM, shareholders also raised concerns about the government’s decision to allow the import of second-hand cars up to five years old. HCAR’s chairman noted that while such imports are allowed under specific conditions, the policy could push up prices of reconditioned cars while also generating additional revenue for the government.
Honda further confirmed that Pakistan’s Automobile Policy 2016-21 (extended until June 2026) remains valid, providing much-needed regulatory clarity for the auto sector.
For Pakistani car buyers, Honda’s upcoming hybrid launch signals a shift toward fuel efficiency, safety, and advanced technology. With rising fuel costs and growing demand for eco-friendly options, Honda’s entry into the hybrid market may offer a strong alternative for those seeking performance, innovation, and long-term savings.
