By Lahore, Pakistan – In a major enforcement drive, the Lahore Traffic Police has initiated a crackdown against the top 1,000 vehicles with unpaid e-challans, marking a significant step in traffic fine recovery across the city. This high-impact operation, led by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Athar Waheed, now also includes government vehicles among its targets.
12 Recovery Teams Deployed Across Lahore
To implement this city-wide initiative, 12 dedicated recovery teams have been formed. These teams are actively tracing vehicles with outstanding traffic fines using Safe City surveillance data. The operation also includes on-the-spot e-challan fine collection, making it more efficient and harder to evade.
According to CTO Dr. Waheed, over 300 vehicles with pending fines have already been identified and penalized. The effort aims to create accountability among both private and public sector vehicle owners.
Shocking Violations Uncovered
Among the cases reported so far, one motorbike alone had 313 unpaid e-challans, totaling an outstanding fine of Rs. 335,300. This case underscores the severity of traffic law violations and the urgent need for enforcement action.
Government Vehicles Not Spared
In a move praised for its impartiality, the Lahore Traffic Police has included official government vehicles in the crackdown. A separate list of such vehicles has been prepared, and action against government departments with repeated violations is set to begin soon.

The Lahore Traffic Police is urging all citizens to check for any unpaid traffic fines and settle them immediately. Failure to do so may result in legal action, including vehicle impoundment, increased fines, and even court proceedings.
