The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has unveiled plans to construct pedestrian tracks in Islamabad’s Blue Area and Jinnah Super Market, aiming to enhance accessibility, promote urban vibrancy, and improve the overall visitor experience.

Enhancing Accessibility and Urban Appeal

In a recent meeting attended by CDA board members and senior officials, the focus was on upgrading the Blue Area (G-7/F-7) to ensure a more pedestrian-friendly environment. The key highlights of the plan include:

  • Well-planned pedestrian pathways to facilitate smooth movement.
  • Electric carts for children and the elderly to improve accessibility.
  • Weekend food stalls featuring popular national brands to boost the area’s attraction.

Infrastructure and Recreational Enhancements

Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized the need to complete the Blue Area parking plaza before commencing work on pedestrian tracks. Additionally, the project will include:

  • Recreational spaces to create a welcoming environment.
  • Digital screens at pedestrian zone entry and exit points for information and navigation.
  • Standardized shop signboards to maintain a uniform and aesthetically pleasing look.
  • Installation of benches and trash bins to enhance convenience and cleanliness.
  • Building facade upgrades to improve the area’s visual appeal.

Focus on Durability and Cost-Effective Design

The Engineering Wing has been directed to develop pedestrian pathways that are durable, cost-effective, and visually appealing. This step ensures that the tracks remain functional and complement the city’s modern infrastructure.

A Vision for a Modern & Organized Urban Space

This initiative is part of the CDA’s broader vision to transform Blue Area into a vibrant, organized, and pedestrian-friendly commercial hub. By improving accessibility, promoting cleanliness, and enhancing aesthetics, the CDA aims to create a modern urban space that caters to all visitors while boosting commercial activity in the heart of Islamabad.
