Xiaomi’s SU7 electric sedan has achieved an extraordinary milestone, surpassing 130,000 deliveries in China within just nine months of its launch. This achievement not only exceeds Xiaomi’s initial adjusted annual delivery target but also underscores the vehicle’s strong demand in the highly competitive Chinese EV market.

A Record-Breaking Launch

The SU7 was launched on March 28, 2023, with a price range of 215,900–229,900 yuan ($29,600–$31,500). Its debut created a significant buzz, securing 50,000 orders in an astonishing 27 minutes. Despite initial production challenges, Xiaomi swiftly ramped up its manufacturing capabilities. By June, monthly production had reached 20,000 units, enabling the company to accelerate deliveries.

Impressive Delivery Timeline

The SU7’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable:

  • First Month: 10,000 units delivered.
  • Next 198 Days: An additional 90,000 units were delivered.
  • Final 45 Days: 30,000 units sold, bringing the total to 130,000 by December 28, 2023.

December 2023 was particularly noteworthy, with 16,328 units sold, as reported by China EV DataTracker. Such numbers are exceptional for a vehicle less than a year old.

Future Expansion Plans

Xiaomi is not resting on its laurels. To meet surging demand, the company plans to launch its second-phase car plant in 2024. Additionally, Xiaomi has ambitious plans for 2025, with two new models set to debut:

  1. SU7 Ultra Sedan: Featuring a three-motor configuration.
  2. Xiaomi YU7 Crossover: Designed to expand Xiaomi’s footprint in the domestic EV market.

These developments aim to solidify Xiaomi’s position as a key player in the Chinese electric vehicle sector.

The success of the Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan highlights the growing consumer interest in innovative and affordable EVs. With its aggressive expansion plans and new models on the horizon, Xiaomi is poised to redefine the standards in the electric vehicle industry.
