In a bid to offer financial relief to consumers, the federal government has announced a decrease in petrol prices by Rs 4.74 per litre for the first half of June. This decision, reported by ARY News, came following the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

As a result of this reduction, the new price for petrol is now set at Rs 268.36 per litre. Alongside this, the cost of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been lowered by Rs 3.86 per litre, bringing its new price to Rs 270.94 per litre.

This latest adjustment follows a substantial reduction announced on May 15, when petrol prices were slashed by Rs 15.39 per litre. During that period, the price of high-speed diesel was also reduced by Rs 7.88 per litre, establishing its price at Rs 274.8 per litre.

The Finance Ministry, acting on the Prime Minister’s directive, issued a notification detailing these changes. The notification highlighted that the price of light diesel has been decreased by Rs 7.54 per litre, resulting in a new price of Rs 161.17 per litre. Additionally, the cost of kerosene oil has been cut by Rs 9.86 per litre, setting it at Rs 173.48 per litre.

These price adjustments are a response to the fluctuations in the international oil market, aiming to alleviate the financial strain on the public by aligning domestic prices with global trends.
