Kia has unveiled the much-anticipated facelift of its 5th-generation Sportage, a comprehensive update that blends fresh styling, a revamped interior, and innovative technology. Arriving three years after the initial launch of the 5th-generation model in 2021, the 2025 Sportage facelift follows Kia’s design approach seen in models like the Picanto, Sorento, Carnival, K4, and K8, bringing a cohesive aesthetic aligned with the brand’s expanding electric vehicle lineup.

Exterior Upgrades: A Bolder Stance

The standout feature of the facelifted Sportage is its striking front end, which showcases vertically stacked headlights, reimagined bumper intakes, and an updated grille. These changes impart a more confident and upright stance to the SUV, giving it a dynamic road presence. The side profile remains largely unchanged, except for updated front fenders and new alloy wheel designs available in 17, 18, and 19 inches. At the rear, subtle tweaks to the bumper and new LED taillight graphics enhance the look while preserving the familiar styling.

The 2025 Sportage will be available in both the international long-wheelbase and European short-wheelbase versions, maintaining dimensions of 4,685 mm in length, 1,865 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,755 mm. Kia has also introduced eight exterior colors, allowing customers to further personalize their Sportage.

Interior Enhancements: High-Tech Comfort

Inside, Kia has taken the Sportage’s cabin to a new level of luxury and technology. The facelift introduces a curved digital cockpit with dual 12.3-inch screens, a new head-up display, and a contemporary two-spoke steering wheel. Enhanced mood lighting and refined A/C vents add to the sophisticated ambiance, while Kia’s updated switchgear brings a more intuitive control experience. Customers can choose from three interior color schemes—Lounge Brown, Black, and Navy Gray—each adding a unique feel to the cabin.

Safety features have also received a significant boost with the addition of a new steering wheel grip detection system, vibration warnings, and the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This includes features like Highway Driving Assist 2, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assist, now allowing for automatic lane changes. Other ADAS features include lane-keeping assist, forward and rear collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, and smart parking assist.

Powertrain Options: Smoother and More Efficient

The 2025 Sportage facelift retains its variety of powertrain options with performance upgrades. The base model features a 2.0-liter LPG engine producing 144 hp, while the more robust 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission, delivers a smoother drive with 177 hp. The petrol-hybrid variant includes a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine and a 65 hp electric motor, and an “infant driving mode” provides smoother acceleration, enhancing comfort for younger passengers.

Kia has also enhanced the hybrid’s regenerative braking, which can be adjusted via paddle shifters or automatically by the system based on road conditions. A plug-in hybrid variant is expected to be available in select markets, providing an eco-friendly option with impressive efficiency.

Tech and Convenience: A Step Ahead in Connectivity

The new Sportage facelift is equipped with Kia’s latest ccNC software, supporting over-the-air updates, which means future enhancements can be made without a visit to the dealership. The high-end trims offer a head-up display for convenience and a redesigned steering wheel with touch-detection technology for lane-centering assist, which now no longer requires active input from the driver.

Navigation is also enhanced with an augmented reality view, and adaptive cruise control uses satellite data for precise speed control on highways. This feature suite solidifies the Sportage’s position as one of the most advanced SUVs in the C-segment category.

Market Availability and Pricing

The 2025 Kia Sportage facelift is expected to roll out in right-hand-drive markets like Australia by the second quarter of 2025, with an upcoming debut in Malaysia anticipated later this year. In South Korea, the facelifted Sportage starts at approximately 28,360,000 won ($21,000 USD), offering a competitive entry price for the segment.

Setting a New Benchmark in the SUV Market

With a harmonious blend of performance, design, and innovation, the 2025 Kia Sportage facelift redefines the C-segment SUV category. Kia has elevated the Sportage to meet modern drivers’ demands for style, connectivity, and advanced safety, setting a new standard that will appeal to buyers worldwide.
